Toter trash carts are coming to Harrisonburg in Spring 2021. Your selection of either a 48- or 96-gallon cart will be dropped off at residents' homes prior to the program's launch in Spring 2021.
Residents are responsible for taking their own, presorted, recyclable materials to the center or mobile unit. Once at the drop-off location, the items will need to be placed into the appropriately labeled container. An attendant will be on-site to provide assistance.
When you no longer have a use for an item it doesn’t mean it is trash. Consider donating it to charity, selling the item or giving it away.

The annual curbside leaf collection begins on November 16th in Harrisonburg. Leaf collection will continue for six weeks (weather permitting), view the entire schedule.
The Public Works Department curbside recycling program has been discontinued. This change in process is due to significant changes in the type of items now accepted for recycling. All recycling for the City of Harrisonburg is now collected at either the Recycling Convenience Center on Beery Rd or at the Mobile Recycling Unit.
