The City Treasurer is an elected constitutional officer and, as such, is directly accountable to the citizens of Harrisonburg. 


The Treasurer's Office collects all tax bills for property(s) located in the City of Harrisonburg. The office also aggressively pursues the collection of all delinquent taxes owed to the City.


Revenues collected under the direct supervision of the Treasurer include: vehicle decal fees; individual and business personal property tax; real estate tax; water and sewer consumption-based fees; business licenses, receipts of State collected revenues and taxes; parking ticket fines; zone parking permits; dog licenses; utility services and mobile communications; trash stickers; cigarette taxes; meals and lodging taxes and other various city fees and permits. The City Treasurer's office makes all disbursements for the City that have been approved for payment by the Director of Finance. The Treasurer acts as the reconciliation agent for the City by working with the depository bank, city departments and external and internal auditors.

EXCITING  NEWS:  The City of Harrisonburg Treasurer's Office is pleased to announce that we now offer online payment of personal property taxes and real estate taxes. Please note that by choosing this option, you are opting to pay the bill in its entirety. Partial payments will not be accepted with online payment. While we understand how important this option is for those choosing it, we also want to make you aware of a 3% credit card processing fee charged by the credit card company. This fee is charged by Official Payments, Inc. and not by the City of Harrisonburg.
